HACKNEY SHORTCUTS is a short film competition, which aims to celebrate some of the best filmmaking talent in The London Borough of Hackney. Whether you work in the industry or are still at school or college we want to see your films. We are serious about finding strong short stories which need to be seen.

The chosen films will be showcased at the Hackney Empire Theatre in The Bullion Rooms on Thursday 21st July as part of The Spice Festival (a two week long festival of the arts). We hope the event will give film lovers and filmmakers the opportunity to meet, chat and enjoy the show… The program will be categorised into two groups; under 18yrs and over 18 yrs. Prizes will be awarded to the strongest film in each group - which will be decided by a panel of industry professionals. A third prize will be announced at the end of the evening which will be decided by calculating the votes from the audience on the night.

The prizes and Judging Panel is yet to be confirmed but if you keep your eye on the web site we will keep you updated.

The closing date for applications is rapidly approaching on the 29th June. Make sure you don’t miss the deadline!! We are looking forward to seeing what’s out there. Tractor is committed to finding, promoting and showcasing new and existing talent.

All submissions should be no longer than 10 minutes in length. The filmmakers must live or work in Hackney or the film should be shot in Hackney. For full details on how to apply, see the rules and the application form on the home page.
